Co-Healing the Swamp
By Ilayda Candemir
Set in Garguree Gully, Blue Mountains, Co-Healing the Swamp seeks to restore and reconnect swamp ecosystems with their surrounding communities. This project addresses sedimentation and stormwater runoff through the integration of bioretention systems, biofiltration walkways, and increased vegetation cover. These interventions aim to enhance water quality, revive native habitats, and create inviting spaces for community engagement and connection.
By tackling cultural disconnections related to water, mitigating environmental impacts, and promoting sustainable practices, the project strives to revitalise the land while fostering meaningful, enduring relationships between people and their environment.
